This fellowship covers a full year of study and research: tuition, fees, stipend, and more. No strings. Just room to think, build, and push your work forward.

What Fellows Receive

  • ~$50,000 stipend (adjusted per institution)
  • No reporting requirements. No catch.

Fellows are invited (but not required) to visit a Jump office, present their research, and connect with our team. We’re happy to be as involved as you want us to be, and always excited to hear about your discoveries.

How to nominate a student

Nominations should be submitted by the appropriate nominating body for your university via email to fellowships@jumptrading.com. Nominations received directly from the nominee or their advisor will not be considered.

  • Research proposal (1-2 pages)
  • CV
  • Letter of recommendation (2) - One letter should be from your current academic advisor. The other should be from a professor in your department (or a related one) familiar with your research.
  • Optional: Nomination letter from university

What future fellows usually want to know

When are nominations due?

Final nominations are due from universities on or before October 31, 2025.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

PhD students at US universities with at least 1 academic year remaining in their program when the Fellowship begins (Fall 2026). International students are eligible if enrolled in a US-based program.

Are international students eligible to be nominated?

All international students enrolled in US institutions are eligible. At this time, we are not offering fellowships to students from non-US institutions.

Can students who weren't selected in previous years be nominated again?

Yes, past candidates are eligible to be renominated if they were not chosen in previous years.

I’m a faculty member and would like to nominate a student for a fellowship. Can I?

Yes, but it should be coordinated with the appropriate nominating body at your university.

Can the same student be nominated for multiple fellowship categories if their research is relevant in multiple areas?

Yes, if a student is doing inter-disciplinary research that fits into multiple fellowship categories, a university may nominate them in multiple categories.
